Main Transmission Pipeline Specialist

Mid-Dakota Rural Water System, Inc. has an opening for a Main Transmission Pipeline Specialist. Successful applicant must, as of the date of employment, reside within fifteen miles of the city of Miller, which is where he/she will be stationed. Duties will include, but will not be limited to; locate main transmission water lines; perform maintenance and repair as needed on large diameter ductile iron, steel and PVC pipeline; perform water sampling, testing and maintain records and reports as required, and keep stations clean; operate, repair and maintain tanks, pumps, control valves, meters, PRV’s, strainers, ARV’s, clean-outs and blow-offs as scheduled; operate, maintain and monitor telemetry, and cathodic protection systems; assist secondary transmission and distribution specialists when needed; respond to customer service calls as needed; and assist O & M Center to maintain proper inventory.

Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to obtain a Class I Water Distribution Certification, issued by the State of South Dakota, within one year’s time.  Applicant must be able to perform heavy lifting, the ability to climb ladders and attend scheduled safety training. One year of experience in the water field or similar work preferred, and have a valid driver’s license. Applicant must be able to work on-call schedule on a rotation basis, which include weekends and holidays.
